മുട്ടപ്പഴം എന്ന വാക്ക് ആദ്യമായി കേൾക്കുകയാണ്‌. brinjal/eggplant/aubergine എല്ലാം വഴുതനങ്ങയുടെ പേരുകളായിട്ടാണു മനസ്സിലാക്കിയിട്ടുള്ളത്. eggplant എന്ന പേര്‌ അമേരിക്കയിൽ വന്നിട്ടാണ്‌ ആദ്യമായി കേട്ടത്. മറ്റെവിടെയെങ്കിലും ഉപയോഗിക്കാറുണ്ടോ എന്നറിയില്ല. --Keral8^(talk) 21:11, 1 സെപ്റ്റംബർ 2010 (UTC)

മുട്ടപ്പഴം എന്ൻ ഗൂഗിൾ സേർച്ചു ചെയ്തു കണ്ടുപിടിച്ചു. അതിന്റെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പേര്‌ eggplant അല്ല. egg fruit എന്ന് ഇവിടെ [1]. പുതിയ അറിവിനു നന്ദി. --Keral8^(talk) 21:23, 1 സെപ്റ്റംബർ 2010 (UTC)

What we know as brinjal in India is what is called eggplant in North America. What is known in Tamil Nadu in English as "ladies finger" (வெண்டைக்காய் pronounced as വെണ്ഡൈക്കായ്) is known as Okra in North America. There are many such differences between English in UK, India, Australia, US, Canada. Eggplant lasagna is a food prepared with eggplant ( = brinjal). I live in Canada and I can confirm these things. Even the English names we use in India are perhaps 19th century or 18 century English and some of them are not used in UK these days. And some are purely Indian english (quite proper as English, but Indian variety of English).
